The earliest depictions of lettuce were found in Egypt.

Lettuce requires light, sandy, humus rich, moist soil. It dislikes dry conditions. It is considered fairly easy to grow, and is a good crop for beginners.

In many countries, it is typically eaten cold, raw, in salads, hamburgers, tacos, and in many other dishes around the world.

No, it does not. Although it is a very popular dish and ingredient in many other dishes, it's not specifically culturally relevant.

It's in the Asteraceae family, which is a daisy family.
